How to become a vet tech?

Ok first off you should know two things I want to be a LICENSED vet tech and I want to move to texas before I start my studies so it would have to be by their regulations. I have decided that I want to be a vet tech and I'm not old enough yet but I wanted to start studying early so I was also wondering what kind of books do you think I should pick up to read and what classes would be smartest to take? Or if there's anything else required to do it'd be wonderful to know, Thanks for the help
